Arborist vs Tree surgeon

Surgeons are consultants.

I do not disagree with you , I was merely outlining an analogy to make it simple to understand (to those not in the business). No malice or disrespect intended - I couldn't do a tree surgeons job and have never inferred to anyone that I could - very skilled professionals in my opinion :001_smile:

It's not the best analogy but: what's the difference between a 'bin man' and a 'waste management facilitator'?

In essence arborist and tree surgeon describe the same job. One is a common term and one is an American term (Americans don't tend to know what a tree surgeon is).

I would agree with central-services point above though; that uneducated and unskilled rogue traders are unlikely to use the term arborist when describing themselves so perhaps the term arborist adds a bit more weight to our profession.

funny me too:thumbup:

i'm 'thetreefeller' bet i've got clones to.

I know a guy calls himself the "tree fella" closeish...

I was called the hippy tree rat but i am no longer of the hippy look so just tree rat seems to fit now, i have been known by other names as well but scottish west coast humour is a bit colourful and i would probably get my botty slapped if i said any here:lol:

Oh yea arborist and tree surgeon are the same. Its only when you start doing tree surveys etc you can call yourself an arboriculturalist (i think:blushing:)
