get yourself down to the police station, demand your property back, ask on whos authority they carried out an illegal search of your vehicle, and on what grounds, regester an official complaint againstr the officers concerned, and demand an apology fron the senior police officer. these days the police seem to think they can do as they please, you have to keep slapping them back into place and remind them there duty is to serve the public, not do as they like, do not under any circumstances take any excuses from them, they are the ones at fault and dont let them forget it.

I guess this is very tounge in cheak

Still waiting to hear the other side of the story here. I have walked around with various sharp implements/knives etc in Tescos and town without realising. I've seen the police in the same place at the same time. Steve & I was pulled over by the police for routine checks, I still had a knife on my belt and they did not bat an eyelid, as well as the pile of gear in the cab and the buck. At the height of the terrorist threats, I've even walked into town beside Steve and even his very suspicious ever-so-slightly Middle Eastern terrorist appearance did not get us interrogated. I did draw the line at him carrying a rucksack in public though:biggrin: well when I was with him anyway, the police are a little too trigger happy on some occasions

One of my guys regularly walks home with a silky on this hip and a fiskars chopping axe on his back. It makes me cringe but he walks up and down the main road every day with no trouble.

How did it turn out?

I'm waiting to go down at 9. I'll see. If I get all the kit back today, it's just a lesson learned. (I.E. never leave any sort of kit in the car when I'm not using it). If not, well it looks like I'm shafted.

I'am no lover of the police or authority but there is nothing illegal about searching any car, and as grounds of doing it, well they just make those up.

I got stopped once with a van full of tools and they found a sliding hammer so they ask what I used it for so I told them. They were not happy with my answer so they confiscated it.

I followed them to the station where I asked to speak to the desk Sargent and explained what had just happened. I also explained that the local ford repair shop had sliding hammers does that make them car thiefs.

A went there and then and gave me it back, I have no criminal record and they had no reason to believe that I was equipped for theft other than owning a sliding hammer.

Those police that took those saws are frankly clowns, and anyone could have a boot full of chainsaws there's no law against it. I don't know where abouts this happened but it is obvious they have not got much to do or worry them.

What has your brother said? I've been stopped with saws and climbing gear etc in my car with no problems. Without taking this the wrong way, Is he likely to have given them lip?

Or another way to look at it is does the officer think there stolen. Can you account for them did you buy them all new?
