That's one thing the blacksmith where I used to work told us never to do as they shrink even more when they dry out. Wooden wedge and a metal cross wedge was all he used and our hammer heads never came off. (We did break the shafts but that was not his fault)

Update on this troublesome 346. Got a new meteor piston today. Doesnt fit. Turns out it has a 350 pot and piston on it, so that's annoying. Is this a common swop?
