so the pully is there to push up the knot??

 

this is a big help in advancing my climbing and saving my aged (23) yr old bones ha!

Yes and a Lockjack or Spiderjack will do an even better job of that as it is the only device that truly self tends ie: one handed operation to pull rope through. This is especially good when returning from a long precarious branch walk.

???? Vt can be tended one handed very easily, it does not jam up or bind like a prussik but is just as easy as an LJ. I tie my vt so it will self tend around 25ft as long as the tails not obstructed.. I know an LJ will self tend around 10 ft though!! But my feeling on descending with them is they offer no fine control like a hitch but The spider jack is supposed to be different ??I have never owned one but gave my lock jack away!!
