Fell it along the hedge, and mill it on site. For the cost of hiring a crane you could afford to buy a chainsaw mill, big bar and chain. Even if it turns out to be no good, it can still go for logs.

Simples.

If I came to do that I'd just chog it down. Say there you go here's your pile of firewood, quick blow round to get the sawdust under the hedge and in the flowerbeds and get paid. Pay a second guy to play with the other one, done for lunch!

Or do them both yourself and double your profit.

Thats the cheapest and most obvious option.

The cheapest and most obvious option is to take the £300 offered to have the trunks as part of the deal so think in hindsight I'll let this person come and do it. I was interested in doing with a crane/hiab or winch it in a controlled way to minimise any risk to damaging building.

Thanks for input.

I have a hiab coming to a job on Monday morning, only costs £44 an hour, min 2.5 hour hire. So for a little over a ton its all sorted.
