Hand file for out in the field or sharpening cutters in good but blunt condition - bench grinder for any heavy damaged cutters when the chain hasn't been sharpened as it should or damage due ot hitting metal or dirt.

i've got a similar tool to this from oregan, good tool if u've just taken chunks out of the chain with a nail or rock or someone says can u sharpen this and it looks like blind monkey with a nich inch grinder has been at it. But otherwise its quicker and i think you get a sharper tooth with a hand file. As with all gadgets they take time to setup in which time u can get a fair few teeth sharpened!

Also it's quite hungry on chain metal, no matter how hard i've tried to just touch the tooth it seems to have taken quite a lot of metal away.

He's got a chain that's hanging off....never the best for ease of sharpening and the wheel is touching the cutter as it's going around the nose. That must make the wrong angle?
