chainsaw oil on main road

Just a thought, but does anyone think that when working on roads chain oil could be a potential danger for road users? I'm talking here about when working above road with saw cutting or ticking over? Is it a skid risk or am I worrying needlessly?

The amount of fluids leaking from all sorts of transport far surpasses any measurable amount being generated by a chainsaw, Relax.

Had a client comment about a sheen on her patio after we had blown site but as Steve said worry not its a tiny amount.

I would agree with the other contributors that any risk to road users is minimal. The real 'killer' on the road for motorcyclists in particular is the build up of diesel oil at junctions, bus-stops and the like.

I think that the amount of diesel dumped on roundabouts by overfilling truck drivers is a far greater issue - used to ride bikes many moons ago and even a slight whiff of diesel or a dark patch on an apex would be enough to make me back off and straighten the bike up!

 

I cant see a little bit of oil would be an issue unless you are working over a hairpin bend for a long long time!

I know its an old thread, but i'm working on a road bend shortly. Traffic lights job (40mph legal limit). does anyone else take into account chainsaw chain oil getting on the road whilst cutting or am I still a bit OCD? bikers uphere are a bit wild

Drop it all over a well worn man hole cover on a bend and yes it could be a problem . On a strait bit of road with decent black top ....not a problem really .

I find Aspen veg chain oil less of an issue.

Too the point I don't notice a sheen at all on tarmac.

Use aspen in my hedge trimmers. Didn't know they did chain oil.
