Hey everybody

Tomorrow I have to catch the peasant wagon (AKA the bus) with my saw, and I'm not entirely sure where I stand, in regards to the law. I remember hearing that you are allowed to carry a baseball bat with you as long as you have another piece of equipment like a ball or a glove, would this apply to a chainsaw? (probably an urban myth mind.)

I'm going to ring the bus company to see where I stand with them. I may also wrap it in a bin bag, as I don't want to scare old ladies

Any ideas or insight on the law of carrying a saw down the street would be fantastic.

I think as long as you're not wearing a hockey mask you should be ok

On a more serious note, can't you put it in a big holdall? Might also be advisable to drain the fuel out as well to prevent any question of it being started.:001_smile:

There is nothing to stop you carrying the tools of your trade in a public place (provided you aren’t arsing around).

I think the bus company would like the fuel tank to be empty but if you take the bar off and put it in a holdall, who is going to know?

I travelled on a train with one, Just had the bar cover on. I was in my ballastics though, and had my helmet hanging off my rucksack. No one took any notice of it.

But agree with the above, take bar+chain off.

I caught a bus with the saw once, only a little ms180 though so cute and cuddly. Only had people smiling at me and being really nice and polite. I suppose that may have been as I also had my Silky strapped on the left, my small forest axe on the right and a huge wooden mallet swung over my shoulder:001_cool:

I think if you take the bar off you should be fine though, I can't see why anyone would have a problem with that.
