hah, this has made my day.

Hey everybody Tomorrow I have to catch the peasant wagon (AKA the bus) with my saw, and I'm not entirely sure where I stand, in regards to the law. I remember hearing that you are allowed to carry a baseball bat with you as long as you have another piece of equipment like a ball or a glove, would this apply to a chainsaw? (probably an urban myth mind.) I'm going to ring the bus company to see where I stand with them. I may also wrap it in a bin bag, as I don't want to scare old ladies Any ideas or insight on the law of carrying a saw down the street would be fantastic.

The budget is a tad limiting, however there are some bargains out there. I use A Nikon D40 SLR and I can tell you it is an absolutely spot on camera. I've had mine for 3 years and It's still producing fantastic shots, despite it take a few knocks. I can't express how good the camera is for the price, it's small and compact, in comparrision with many other SLRs, yet still packs a punch. (Check out some of my shots Bell-end's deviantART Gallery Lens wise, it comes with an 18-55mm lens which did the trick for me and should do for what you need, but I steadily upgraded to some larger lenses. However, the only hiccup with this camera is the fact that all future lenses you buy, have to have a built in motor. There are lenses out there, however it gives you less choice over which lenses you want. But don't let this put you off, it's a top camera for only £230 on amazon. Bargain! I just read it, very sad indeed. However I love the Daily Mails take on it - "Girl, 13, crushed to death by a falling branch as she sat on park bench on the day her teachers went out on strike" So don't worry, it was the teachers fault.

I had a go with one the other day, and I found it absolutely spot on, like I wasn't wearing a harness at all.

People forget that trees aren't man made structures, you sometimes can't predict when they are going to fail. As sad as this poor kids death is, and my thoughts go out to his family, It should be put down to one of those things.

This issue was raised at the Conference at Arb fair North, by Frances Hirst (HSE bod.) If I can remember back, you are meant to have a divider between the operator and the tree worker, in all circumstances, regardless of bucket size.
