I think i got a eucalyptus tree in my garden that i want cutting down so i had a quote from someone and they wanted £300 and thats not taking the tree away, so i was wondering if someone could give me a rough price how much i should be charged if a tree surgeon did the work with and without taking the tree away. The tree is about 40 foot high and the branches are about 10 foot long.

Hello and welcome by the way, it's would be better to post pics so people could give you a guesstamation. I would also get a few other quotes and compare prices, but the cheapest is not always the best service.

The person i asked wasn't a tree surgeon. This is the tree i want cutting down.

Well then, I would forget about the £300 and just give a local firm a call to come round and give you a quote.

BTW does the person you asked have any knowledge in tree removal?

Ive priced a few jobs were the customer has a figure in their head because their mate reckoned it would cost X amount. Sometimes its cheaper than they thought.:001_smile:

Looking at the pic, I would say the price you have had is a bit steep if the arisings are staying one site and a little low for taking every thing away.

Why did you ask a none tree surgeon???

Someone my boyfriend knows used to cut tress down with someone so thought he would ask him as he may have needed the money as he is out of work at the moment. We are from pontypool south wales and we don't know any tree surgeons or anyone we asked.
