ed....processors can be fine for surgery waste if you prep your waste on site before it goes back to the yard....ie cut the cords at the bends, anything bigger than 15" ring up so it can go straight in the splitter bay etc.

most cutters dont dress stuff up properly and it slows everything down when it comes to processing.

not that i evan have the money to buy a processor but when my old man looked at buying one his main concern was the amount of wood that was wasted...that seemed to shatter and splinter and that he would have to buy in cord becouse all are wood waste was irregular sizes or rings i thought that would be a great idea to buy a processor....think he learnt that though the hard way when he took the hand guards off, made a foot lever to make the splitter faster then cut a finger off!

all of his was done with logsplitters and saw bench he had an old boy cutting it up through the summer and during the fire wood season he was doing 6 a day on a good day 8-10 good money for waste but time consuming.

I like the look of the self powered splitters see how much money i have left after paying the tax bill at the end of the month! otherwise it will be just another new splitting maul!

Matty,

I fitted a hydraulic PTO to a land rover defender and built a good size splitter for about 800 quid, but I already had the Rover! I do all the ringing up on site so everything back at the yard is ready to hit the splitter
