Never used a rake on a digger, but they could be just the tool for scrub clearance, cut, rake it into pile and probably get quite a good load lifting it on to bonfire too? a chainsaw operator and digger/ rake driver would make 4 acres scrub look pretty silly after a couple of days, depending on density.

ours is for hire, with operator, brash rake and 8 tonne digger with talan grab, if any help, used in pics recently for scrub/brash burning and stump removal for a large area, over 4 acres cleared in a few days - any help?

A couple of thoughts:

Metford Stevens: plant hire - groundworks - landscaping - scrub clearance - note they're available to hire, and state they're good for swampy ground.

However, from personal experience it's one thing getting it down, another getting enough of the roots of the scrub out to stop re-growth and make it handleable with normal mowing equipment. If they're prepared to pay the extra to get it done to that standard, I'm sure there's an outfit down in Kent which runs a tractor mounted unit that mulches through the soil to about a 4in depth - just can't find it at the moment.

Hi All,

One of our regular customers has asked us to clear 4 acres of 'brush / scrub' , this isnt our usual type of work but the customer wants us to do it!

The terrain is uneven and boggy as its close to a river and there are 2 drainage gullys about 10m wide, 5 m deep and 100m long

any advice on machines to use?

TA!

Flail mulcher-tiz the way forward........Kx
