Bollard. Made up with it. Can't wait to give it a go :D

Sorry to say this Rob, but from an basic engineering point of view its a very poorly designed lowering device.

Just to explain the poor design using similar lowering devices for comparison, look at where the bollard is in relation to the plate on the Hobbs and GRCS devices. The position of the bollard on both these lowering devices means the force is distributed into the stem of the tree more efficiently. The main reason these two LDs are the best you can buy is because they were designed by real tree workers.

Also on the GRCS -

Always go on the last day at the end for bargains:) I won't be there working all weekend and just got in now covered in conifer sap:sneaky2::thumbdown:

I always thought that but i doubt it this year! Lister Wilder were doing Stretch Air type c's all in for £165 (all sold out) and marlow gecko ropes dirt cheap. i had the last one... 20m rope with a spliced eye for £23.50!

Who were the 'PROFFESIONALS' carrying out the demonstration dismantle from a cherry picker.

They cut through the rope with the chainsaw. And if they had not, the branch would have had such a big swing that it would have probably hit the groundsman controling the lowering rope.

On the plus side the demonstration at the stihl area was good, tha man was able to discribe both sides of the debate very well.

The sausages were good, but not worth the wait.

Now all i have got to do is wait for my new harness to arrive, one of the new fangled Hakkie ones.
