23 years a Nimrod man. Now awaiting 1st September to find out if they no longer want me. Firmly in the redundancy bracket, cos someone cut up my aircraft with a bigger saw than I have.

Just finished the basic chainsaw course at the Scottish School of Forestry by Culloden. Great atmosphere, decent instructor.

I took the suggestion on this forum about working for free to gain experience and got a positive response almost immediately. So thanks for that.

Paul C - Yep I managed a trip out there. i put some of my experience on here under 'My Trip to Belize' if you want a look at it. Awesome tour. Good luck in your last 2 years and hopefully a redundancy package is on the cards to make it a little sweet for you!

  • 1 year later...

Yorkshireman, worked on 11Sqn as a SE FITT good times. All the Tornados have long gone now though and I occasionally have to pop in there, its changed a lot. Still time moves on, I'm out May next year and with some hard work and a bit of luck will hopefully move into this line of work.

Regards

Paul

I probably should have been. Born at military hospital in Germany, barracks life till I was 13.

Dad Army, older brother Navy, Me at Naval school for secondary ed, me at recruiting office in the strand. Me saying no to the old man and the future career being mapped out in front of me.

It didn't turn out to be the end of the world (though Staff Sargeant Humphries would of thought so at the time), I ended up doing this from 16 till now. Not been soooo bad :001_smile:

Oh what could have been :001_rolleyes:
