jenkinsons are giving 8 -15 per tonne for biomass

landscapers will pay £50+ for well aged mulch

be careful not to sell for play areas arb waste is NOT suitable

What makes you say that mate???

Obviously some "arisings" are not suitable, but this year and the last 3 years I have been contacted in by a LA to produce chip for play areas whilst also thinning their woodlands.

Arb wood chip isn't sterile but then again once the sterile stuff hits the floor it will no longer be sterile so defeats the object really.

I've sold bulk bags of chip 0.5m3ish in bags at £40 a bag. If I am putting it down for the client then will charge 80 per m3 including the laying fee. This doesn't include any membrane which would be extra to the cost.

If I am tipping loose on a drive of clean or well rotted chip then it would be £80 per load which is approx 2.5m3.

sterile chip is heat treated to in part to kill seeds and arb waste should'nt be used for mulch how many firms actually keep deased tree waste seperated ie honey fungus etc from memory defra has some guidelines that say that we should disinfect the vehicles and equipment.

Cheers guys,I'm gathering the vibe that arb chip isn't suitable for landscape mulching ? Is that correct? If so what other uses could it have,as don't fancy having it sat there forever I have zero arctic access either or tractor with bucket sadly

Whilst working for the local authority we reused the woodchip as a mulch which actually works a treat plus it's free and, if not from diseased wood, environmentally friendly!! Playground chip is bark chippings which are also graded so personally i wouldn't be supplying schools for playgrounds in case of any comeback unless it is the real deal stuff.
