just check the land rover forums to see what i mean,, there is no reason why saying a company / dealer offers poor service (as long as it's true)

and who exactly is policing that? no one can, hence the strict rule, which isnt going to change

It is similar to Ambulance chasing isnt it, but i know that builders over here regularly check planning applications and send letters to all of the properties addresses touting for work as a matter of course.

This business is doing the same thing, as they are carrying out this practice then they must be obtaining some business from it or they wouldnt waste the stamp.

Can you start doing it to them? ;-)

Have a quiet word with the boss and explain if it does not stop you will start. Copy the letter changing a few details send everytime you see their van parked. Send a copy to them aswell. Check the planning permissions. Ask their blokes at the roach coach if they have any interesting jobs coming up, they will need to brag. Buy them a coffee ask them what they have been up to. I am not mature enough to take the moral high ground, I would fight fire with fire.

there is comany around my way who let all the others do the quotes then promise to better then by at least £150, they are absolute cowboys know ppe etc but getting work as people looking to save money, normal insured companies with full hse equipment etc cant afford to drop to the prices they will do it for (and yes i believe they have been reported more than once to hse and trading standards) you just have to put up with it and let there work do the talking. i have been out twice now to but things right finish jobs.

I tell the customer the application cost is £30 if the job is given to another company, free if I get the work

I do the same but i don't know how we could inforce it though.
