Its only going to get worse at the moment the ethanol content is only 5% soon this will go upto 10%. The ethanol absorbs moisture so buy from a fast moving outlet not from a forecourt that does not move a lot of fuel.

I do not leave any fuel in my saws when not in use for the same reason

:confused1: Do you drain them every night???????????:confused1:

Lot of bad fuel going around at the moment. My dad got a load of fuel from BP in Biggleswade which caused something to go wrong with the sensor in the cat. Ment the car went wrong. Apparently this has been happening a lot with Saabs at the moment.

As for compsensation for Sainsburys. One of my dads staff got some bad fuel from tesco and got a huge repair bill. They wrote to them and got a standard letter back saying not our fault. Later they got a letter saying they will pay for repairs, the tank of fuel and got some vouchers too because over 200 people had the same problem.

Dear Tomtrees; The Yanks are correct. Curious George and his Hoodlems tryed and failed to increase Ethanol from 10% to 15%. Non-ethanol fuel is hard to secure here in the states and the only reliable source has been boat marinas. It seems that ethanol fuels will destroy boat moters faster than Two/Four cycle engines. Shop at name brand locations only.

We had a bad batch of fuel a week or so ago. Must have been in the bottom of the tank. Looked fine coming out of the pump but when it settled there was about half a litre of sludge in the bottom of the combi can. We took it back to the petrol station and they refunded us. We were then given a voucher to fill up with upto 50 litres of any fuel for free. We took the two 20 l jerry cans and the two combi cans and filled up with the top notch fuel.

It is we couldnt beleive it. We got onto site and saw the gunge/sludge when we got the cans out. Several cars had broken down as well because of it. I'm not going to disclose the name of the petrol station we got it from due to site rules.
