At Chest hight would't your hand be in a better position to engage the chain break by impact rather than inertia in the event of a kickback?Chainbreaks often get "sticky" and don't always engage by inertia when the saw is used horizontally.

 

I agree with the logic behind cutting at waist level,but in practice it seems like a strange requirement.

Tbh I use the saw in which ever way is most comfortable at the time or errr is it the quickest not sure :001_smile:

I know its a bad idea to cut above the chest as we all know (ahem) but at chest height you seem to have a bit more control and weight behind the saw to control it, especially when chogging down.Oh and not that I would want to be hit by a saw in the chest bit it may be better than being hit in the stomach.
