Running costs obviously up but a big difference on work days, normally get a full trees chip in one visit which ends up saving time and money. In the end I think it is working out cheaper than running a 3.5t.

Don't regret getting it.

More than a truck? I don't think so. Your mog won't do 56mph uphill on a motorway carrying 10 tonnes of logs, for example.

Once you factor in the purchase cost of your mog suddenly the truck starts looking very attractive, and if (when) you get a major breakdown it will cost more to fix than a truck too.

I ran a u1650 and now run a iveco lorry and there is a big reason for that it's a hell of alot cheaper to run the iveco.

Of course a Mog won't do 56mph on the motor way but 'benedmonds' didn't say what type of work he does.

Anyone who changes from a Mog to a truck 'cos the Mog wasn't viable made a stupid decision in the first place. Mine is just right for me (but too small).

A Unimog will do more ie: its more versatile if that's the right vehicle your application and in that case it will make plenty of money for you otherwise it's like buying an MS880 to coppice Hazel all year.

I have had a few friends with mogs and they all say there good if you are doing the right work. They have also said they are ridiculous on repair bills.

Some one changing from a mog to a truck is not a stupid decision it is what ever suits your company . I looked at a unimog before i bought my iveco eurocargo and because of the long distance we travel it was just not practical or economical to run one .

question ??? if you had a daily 52c15,(ie) 5t on an o,liesense ,& you had ample off road parking @ your private address could you park the daily ther :confused1:

cheers johnny

Depends on not rubbing your neighbours up the wrong way.

The vehicle ought to be kept at the operating centre so unless you can convince the traffic commissioner that your home should be the operating centre keep the neighbour sweet.
