paid snow days?

Wasn't sure if to have the poll on if people get paid or if they think they should get paid but obviously everyone will want to get paid so if employed do you get paid for snow days if sent home by the company?

my employee is on a 0 hours contract so if he dont work he dont get paid. i cant afford to pay him if we are not earning.

I have always paid my on-the-books staff for days off with bad weather.

If a Co is not working its not generating income, so its very difficult pay wages when there is no income.

 

I think the best option may be to make up the time once the snow has gone, by working weekends at normal pay.

Im just interested as im self employed now so dont expect any special treatment if days get called off, but when employed on the books i never used to get paid. This was a bit disappointing as was a large company too. Is it too late to edit the poll to add something for the self employed?

Voted Paid but it doesnt really show the truth. Havent had a snow day in 14 years!

Where i work the gardeners dont get snow days ever, but all the other staff in resteraunt, shops, castle, offices etc get paid snow days.

If the guys can't get to a site there always stuff to do in the yard so they get paid. If the weather is really wet cold or just horrible then they get the choice to work or not. If they don't want to get cold or wet and would rather stay home then they can take it out of their holiday

The staff i employ get paided there day rate as per normal . I dnt see why they should go with out as they work long days for me in the summer and dont get over time . There fore it equals its self out in the end .

 

As for the sub contractors they get nothing .

So I assume you don't expect them to stay as long as the employed staff in the summer?
