It can be a big problem especially with your fingers even with gloves as your fingers are the ones on the throttle. In extreme cases the trees can freeze but thats it very extreme cases. And then sometimes with 2 stroke powertools and even diesel powered chippers will refuse to start. We have problems with our saws and brushcutters some mornings. Only last week we had to jump start our chipper as the battery was flat as a fart and would barely light up the glow plug light.

No problems with the frost here.

Well maintained equipment will still work well in sub-zero conditions.

Wood does not get cold like steel or stone, the ground is hard so we make less mess.

Frost is great and much better than rain.

Same here and in some ways when you get going and warmed up it can be nicer than mid summer when your sweating ya whatsist off.

I found it a bit of a problem yesterday as i never made the site!! Managed to put the van into a ditch with the chipper staying on the road luckily enough. Was only doing about twenty five miles an hour so not too much damage done!! I'd say frost is ok but after yesterday snow and ice is a not much fun:thumbdown:

I find I get cold. Then I start work and I'm fine all day. Don't have a problem with anything starting. Only the truk which dislikes the cold a bit

Trees get a bit snappy when it's cold. Better for stuffing it in a trailer.

2 years ago i felled a chestnut that was frozen, no problem felling it, cut into rings as cliant wanted to use it for firewood, came to split the rings, between 18 and 30inch dia, they went through a dream, one swing of the axe and a 30" ring splits into 4 or more pieces :)
