can you run autocad on mac?

i'm another one shouting for mac,, but check if the software you want to run will work on it,

and before anyone says put a partition in,, well ok, you can,, but you'll then open your lovely mac up to all those nice pc viruses...

and it would also just make it a VERY expensive pc,,,in which case,,, get a dell,, or sony..

I abhor apple products, but not due to reliability or anything, however I would actually recommend one if you arent that computer literate and dont want to go changing it all about....but they are quite pricey i think.

See if you can get someone to set one up for you. Admittedly mines a desk top but the guys who sorted mine out tailored it to suit my needs and I didn't get all the advertising bumf from the big stores. The place I got mine also does laptops but obviously you won't want to be coming to NZ to get one. If you can find an independant outfit go see them and they can find out exactly what you need it for and then you don't end up paying for stuff you won't use. I ditched most of the rubbish and just set it up mainly for downloading, a bit of accounting etc.

DELL perhaps?

6 Months ago I would have fully recommended Dell, but they have really gone down hill, IMO.

I have been very disappointed and will never spend another penny with them.

And in complete reverse, I have a Dell thingybob laptop and its very good, as opposed the the Sony Viao which was an over-hyped pile of doggy-doo. I shant be buying anything else from Currys as there customer support was at best not very supportive.

I got an Compaq laptop a few months ago from ebuyer. 4gb of ram, and 500gb hard drive, duel core and what not, was about £360, a good deal compared to those in the shops. Only trouble is that the battery only lasts about 30mins which is no good! I think the mac book battery lasts about 9 hours, I wish I had spent more and got one of them!

Sounds like the battery is shot - even the most basic laptops should be giving you 2-3 hours minimum. Might be worth getting a new battery first to see if this helps before chucking it in and going for a Mac....

Although I certainly would recommend getting a Macbook or Macbook Pro if you can. An all together more civilised computer !
