I have 3 friends who have had to sell one of their estates altogether, in one case only leaving them with one estate in the highlands, and a small townhouse in Bath.

 

Sorry, is only having an estate in the Highlands some sort of consolation prize for them? If they perceive that it is, and their attitude is that of the so many (often absentee) landowners up here - perhaps they should've sold it instead!

 

I think its bang out of order that the great unwashed should be allowed to force this state of affairs in the name of liberalism.

 

:wtf:I think it's bang out of order that for so long the Highlands has had it's landscape degraded and it's people displaced by the wealthy few who come to abuse the place twice a year as their own private playground.

 

You think what's been forced on the rich is a shame - a local history lesson on what the locals had forced on them up here would show you where the shame lies....
