Too true mate:001_smile: I understand wars are controversial and everyone has different opinions but for me remembrance day etc is about remembering people who have fallen they do what they are told to do and are protecting our country I'm very proud of our forces and don't mind admitting I was due to join the army at sixteen and bottled it in the end:blushing:

I can't believe what I've just read in the news apparently a group of Muslims where protesting near Hyde park burning a large poppy:cursing::flybye:

I can't write on here how I truly feel about this! Hope I haven't put a dampener on such a good thread I'm just shocked it can go on in our country shame all those students didn't head down there and put there anger into something more worthwhile

That's just disgusting by them to do that, its a Rememberance day it's got bugger all to do with whether the current Wars are right or wrong, something seriously wrong in their heads to behave in such a distasteful manner on an important day.

I always have the utmost respect for Servicemen and women all over the globe to do a job that many can't do. My cousin has just joined up to go into the Combat Engineers - I just hope he doesn't join the ranks of the fallen anytime soon.

- Lest we forget

We watched the Royal British Commemoration last night on BBC 1 as always. I end up every year with tears on my face remembering all the fallen. Makes you think how lucky we all are. You can tell the generational gap with service personnel by the number of medals. My generation usually have the Northern Ireland, Falklands and maybe UN medal for Cyprus. Look at the lads, and lets not forget the girls, who serve and have served recently, a mass of medals on their chests compared to when I was in. Then again think about all the poor sods living rough on the streets, who just can't cope through one reason or another. Breaks your heart. Never forget.
