Is there a big difference in quality between the stihl & oregon chain?

Out of the box not a lot of difference, after 1/3 used Oregon gets faster and Stihl slower, at 1/2 used Oregon even faster and at 2/3 the difference is about 15% + faster.

Oregon has a wider side plate and clear the chip faster, the top plate is less steep and the working corner easier to maintain.

Features like lubrilink, lubriwell and vibedam keep more oil along the bar and chain and reduce vibration giving smoother operating.

Most large Stihl dealers sell far more Oregon chain than Stihl chain which in itself is an indication of demand by the end user.

Try the Oregon LPX, BPX and for your MS200 try 91VXL and you will see the difference.

To select what chain fits your saw try the selector guide link below

Of course, biased and informed. But tis true most big Stihl dealers do sell more Oregon chain especially the ones who advertise on here.

However Les Oregon chain is cheaper than Stihl chain which may have a little/lot to do with it!

And Stihl dealers can sell oregon chain direct to customer online which may also have a little/lot to do with it!

On the thread subject I thought Stihl dealers were not allowed to sell Stihl chain straight off the internet and that's why you can't find any!

I`ve had some good deals from kwikchip on the bay for chains

Get a free account with topcashback and search the bay through it and get further money off.

They also sell RSC in 0.058" guage for Husky saws

Chainsdirect do stihl chains, have a look on ebay.

i think you'll find most if not all the sponsors will be able to supply stihl chain, might need to call direct

:thumbup1: thanks everyone, wasn't aware of chainsdirect before, and confused it with another online site when i saw its name first off.

Thanks for your help, nearly half price after exchange rate and p&p, Compared to shop prices here in Ireland.
