Right that's it, getting the GB maul. Had to cancel my credit card this week but when my new one comes through this will be my first purchase.

Get a Gransforrs splitting maul, there about 80 quid but hand forged in sweden, hickory shaft. They are the dogs bollocks!..... i sleep with mine.:thumbup:

 

 

 

Il seond that, had my Gforrs splitting maul about 8-9 years.... Its got its own place in the wood shed.

Can't seem to see the Fiskars super splitter from Westfalia. Can you post a link if you can find it.

Mmm,just checked Westfalia's website,cant seem to find it.....im wondering if they stopped doing them as they seem to have a new range of mauls/splitters

I use a silverline firbeglass handle splitting maul most of the time, as I tend to be burning ugly knotty bits of wood

 

I also have an old felling axe to use on the easy stuff, but think I could do with buying a new one as the head has a crack running down it and the handle is fairly battered :laugh1:

I use a 6lb Roughneck fibre glass handled axe about £15 from memory and lasted years, had a rough neck splitting maul too til it lost its head and the new one I bought is so bad it would probably split quicker using the hammer head side :001_rolleyes:

I bought one of those Aldi £9.99 maul jobbies- seems okay but not as good as my Bahco one.

 

Don't forget to get a sledge hammer to go with the maul. You'll need it to finish the job sometimes!! And maybe a good steel wedge or two for those really awkward barstewards.....
