efficiency in rigging

The only thing I picked up on Daniel was the mid tying of the lowering line where a couple of the butts came back towards him.

Never the less, they were brought down efficiently and I enjoyed your vids.

I dont know what it is, it's probably me judging it wrong but the previous vids come across to me as a little patronising to other tree surgeons, maybe I'm wrong.

But vids watching other people at work, rather than the vid portraying how it should be done are cool

Keep em coming Danno

He did make some mistakes which I left in the video on purpose, but no one so far has mentioned the one I have the strongest feelings about.

7.58 in the first vid, branch gets hung up in a small tree, looks like there are 4 guys on the ground needed to pull that limb out.

Nice vids

serious question do you use chainbrakes ever over there:confused1:

worst bit for me was 3.22 2nd vid

I personally would of felled the last tree with the backcut starting at the house side to set the hinge house side and finish other side so at to allow for extra hold but thats personal

Some of the tie off points could of been a bit scary if you had not run the ropes accordingly I only have 3 lads i really enjoy running the ropes :blushing:

How long ago was that done.

I have used one of those original portawraps but most of the new ones are a lot better and the diameter has got bigger

For me it was nice to see a working vid rather than a instructional one:thumbup:

Great video & as for the climber being 'good' or not, He was Efficient! & that's what it's all about there are far too many people who think being the best climber is all about bombing about the tree, right to the extremities of the branches, but as this video demonstarates it has little to do with being a productive climber.

A few people have critisised the tie off point...... This Was Intentional! it is to reduce the shock loading on the rope & is the safest way to do it by far, yes but & tip tying have their place but not so much in this tree & not with such big lumps.

A great job well done by the whole team!

Improoving the efficincy of our rigging is the best way to make Maximum profit

We know it was intentional, it said so in the vid, that didn't stop the butts nearly knocking him out a couple of times :confused1:

It's ok to be pinned to the tree and suffer fatal internal injuries as long as you dont shock load the piece being lowered ???

You do come out with some funny things

Pat is a fast and efficient climber, both detail and production oriented. He has a pleasant personality, and is always good to work with. I'd put his productivity up against anyone's.

We both have the same teacher, So our styles are somewhat similar. We like to take big pieces when it can be done safely. Often using a near balance point tie off on the pieces to reduce shock loads. Having someone you can trust on the ropes is essential. I ran the ropes on the first tree, then the camera on part of the second and third, then back to the ropes again.

Is he smoking mid cutting at 8.40 in the first vid??
