i have done stuff like this BUT i have always had a monster winch or turfor with a huge steel wire on it. i have never just ropes and pulleys, i was very impressed when he mentioned he had caused a lot of friction usings shackles, the man used what he had at his disposal, now thats what it is all about. That whole job he did was controlled by him every step of the way, i take my hat of to him:thumbup1:

have to say,, if it was me and tommer,, we'd have gone for it,, but the difference is we would have used a light rigging line with "2 turns" round the wrist...

I asked him how long it took him to set up the ropes to pull the second tree over and if he used the bucket or climbed to do it. He never answered.

 

Strange he would trust the hinge after stating how bad of shape the wood was in in the hinge area.

 

The ropes seem at quite a sharp angle toward the ground also.

 

I think he was lucky.

had a few big pines maybe 3 1/2 cubic, back in the last big blow, they were lying nearlyon the ground into garden over a fence, we used a kockums with an igland 8000, attached the cable near the top, pulled them up straight and then directionally felled into the wood, wasnt as hard as u would think

You and I both know the guy is a nut case Fiddler.

 

On this occasion he was lucky it all went good, but this guy will hurt someone one day when it all goes wrong. He prides himself on creating the most far fetched way of felling trees when there is a safer way.

 

As fiddler says, very accute angle downward on the pull line for my liking, also what isnt mentioned is that its more than likely a skid loader doing the pulling:thumbdown:

 

To answer, the guy is a nutcase, he got it down but was lucky yet again. It will go wrong one day, just hope its not someone else he mames
