i reckon to get it set up right with chipper you will be looking at £120k easy, this machine will give you 20 years service , if looked after and maintained, so it will only be costing you £6k a year. It is a scary amount of money at first but if you are in it for the long game it is a very sound investment and in 20 years time you will probably get a fair bit of money for it. I remember hearing a story of a farmer buying a brand new mog for 4k back in the 60s he had it for 40 years and sold it for 4k.

In the 60s you could buy a house for £4k that would be worth £200k now.

It's not an investment it's a liability. Good if you want to avoid tax but on HP a X.XX%APR you'd need that machine working 24/7.

I think it's more about c*ck swinging than utility.

It would not really replace my existing setup, but if I changed the way I do things who knows.

 

Apart from a tonne less payload, wondering why it would not suit your set up? Whats it not got that your 1600 has, are the engines less powerful?

You can get a U20 with a 170hp engine, mines 240hp, so it would pull my trailer, but it would struggle if it was full.

 

Also the U20 has more overhang at the front, so a front mount chipper is not ideal.

 

Unfortunately none of the new mogs meet my requirement, the bigger ones are all too long, the U20 is nice and short but is less power full than my current machine and with no front chipper I can't take timber trailer and chipper.
