MS200T chain brake handle.

As the chain brake handle is made of plasticine and lasts all of 30 seconds before snapping on the left hand side where it locates into the crankcase, does this make the saw unusable from a H&S point of view?

the problem is that son you will snap the chain break band because the chain break is not supported on both sides thus meaning the chain break handle twists and therefor twists the mechinism . well thats what happened to me

Its been like that for yonks, so have all my older ms200T's, they break I buy a new one because the saw is new, then they break again so I dont bother.

 

Although there is a reason why I say ms200T and not 020 but thats for another thread.

 

Coulda just been unlucky with the brake band since I hardly ever have to replace mine for some reason:sneaky2: In fact I have 2 new ones sitting around somewhere.

Just as a matter of interest do you clip your strop onto the chainbrake on that side?

 

We used to do it all the time to carry over the shoulder (utility work, long treks through fields, lots of gear) until a brake handle snapped one day on a saw the guy in front of me was carrying. Put a stop to clipping on that side and been months since we have had a broken handle.

Mines been bust for ages, the new one has been sat on the dash of the mog for ages too.

 

It works OK as it is, but I will change it one of these days.

I know what you mean mate but I don't do that very often. Its to do with the poor construction I think.
