Hi all.

I currently work in grounds maintenance and hold CS30/31 and doing CS38/39 in a few weeks, my queston is after passing is it best to apply to a local council or a firm?

Also are the jobs hard to come by, and does anyone know the pay of a newcomer with this set of tickets?

Thanks for any help:001_smile:

To be honest it means nothing in the world of tree work, you have the paperwork but its all about your ability in the tree. You would go in as a branch dragger and see how you got on, the boss might let you do a couple of little jobs to see how you do but until you can come up to speed you are going to be dragging brash. I am thinking from a contractors point of view, it might be diferent with in a council:001_smile:

Practice climbing all you can, having the tickets, and being up to a reasonable pace in the tree can be worlds apart. go rec climb some real big moody tree's right to the tips and get your speed and confidence up, maybe try and get some of your own work to practice work climbing? No contractor will employ you to climb without any experience as everyone else has said. But with local authority stuff it would probably be a different story.

So yeah jobs are hard to come by and will pay badly, you just need to get up in the tree's as much as you can to gain experience and start to command a better rate.
