does anyone agree that this type of fuel should be subsidised by the government as is agri/fishing fuel "red diesel" as this could easily be dyed as its not road fuel never mind it being more expensive than standard petrol.i contacted our local fuel suppler at the highland show and they had never heard of it!!!!! the guy was interested in supplying if he could get a hold of it.any comments appreciated.

Don't see why there should be any road fuel duty, it's not used on anything road-going.

my point exactly if there is no road duty cant the tax duty be lowered ie subsidised if you like to help our industry same as farmers maybe a simplistic view but valid surely

YES, with you 100% good post.

it should be in the same class as red diesel is, not as if anyone is going to go running their car on it is there? deff not at £13 a gal as it stands right now.

As a "green fuel" the gov should step in and encourage it's use but Aspen could help more by having more stockiest, my nearest one is 50 miles away thats 100 mile round trip. Bit of a joke and the carbon foot print for me using it ...... well just say f..ing big feet!!

If the gov had their sticky little paws in the company we would have Aspen shoved down our throats

Red diesel is going to be phased out in tthe future anyway, and the difference is in the duty paid on the fuel......As aspen refuse to reveal how much of their enourmous price is the tax, or in fact very much else about their product, then this is all speculation anyway.

as tommer said,, you are assuming that aspen pay the same rate of tax as fuel when in fact this is more than likely NOT the case as aspen is not used on road going machinery,

i would also like to know what tax bad aspen pays too, then we can see the honest figures on just how much of that cost is sheer profit..
