Didn't they kind of halt any important technological changes on the 260 due to people just wanting a saw that was simple? That's what made the 260 great!

 

The fact that it stayed pretty much the same inside every year while the other saws got stratified engine doohickeys and all the fancy little bits and pieces that people thought were witchcraft (not really, people just thought it's more things to go wrong.)

 

Now Stihl have given up and thought they'd release one with all the tech their other saws have, which as you can see, is also heavier. At least they've given it a new model name. The loveable barn-door tech 260 will live on I assume.

The one thing about the old 260 though was the vibes! use a 341/361 and you can tell the differance, make the 260 feel like a 1980s saw, i have 2 though and as you say bomb proof and as tough as.

is it me or does it look really slow cutting? im a big stihl fan but never rated the 260, wonder if this is any better

 

Thats what I thought, thought it even looked blunt:laugh1: I doubt stihl would let that happen on a promo vid though:thumbup:
