David, those pics are just superb mate, in a new legue, composition, saturation and focus.

Did you read the close up book or something!

May of had a wee flick through :sneaky2:,

though i'm really of the opinion that's it's more than likely my natural flair & ability that's shining through

Fine book Tony :thumbup1:

Cheers, I did wonder, I just didnt think the flies in pic 2 would stay around if you got so close, thats why i asked.

Truly amazing shots tho David, Are they with the G11?? was it G11??

The flies are drunk on the putrid stink of the spores Liam, I doubt much would keep them away from their frenzy,

even a great big ugly fung hunter like me :001_rolleyes:

it is indeed a G11.

Thanks for the comments guys.

From the red band round the body I think it's a bee Hawk Moth Tony. I'm sure you're aware of the huge geographical variations in insects - subspecies, races etc. - so it doesn't seem to exactly fit any images I can find.

Was on one of the buddleias in Mirabell Gardens, Salzburg in 26 deg; perfect conditions, which brought the 'flies out in numbers.
