Wish I'd taken Health - Income Protection

Recommended Posts

Just had sternoclavicular (collar bone to sternum connection) swelling and pain followed by x-rays; now facing the prospect of not working for months

Not a good day in TCD land.

Upshot: I had that company on here trying to sell me their (pioneer?) income protection policy but of course I thought risk vs outlay = nah won't bother...

Stupid boy. :blushing:

bad news john, you have my sympathys. I have income protection and other policies in place but i thought to myself i should try and prevent as much injury as possible, so after talking to guys on here like Mike Hill who do regular training in the gym i have now been going regularely for about 9 months, i have found a huge diference in my strength which makes work so much easier, even learning lifting techniques and sticking to them really helps, i wish you a speedy recovery but i would definately recomend a gym work out that would suit you mate

Thanks for the kind words chaps altho I wasn't seeking sympathy. I'm hoping I can pull off one of those focused recoveries and be back at it asap. Just had the infra-red lamp on it and it feels better. My better half is a nurse too - always a distinct advantage! IF you can get their sympathy! :001_smile:

Tiz a bummer indeed my good man. We should have swapped places!

I have had insurance for about 20 years.

Never had to call on it in all that time.

Got a letter in the post the other day stating they are uping the monthly DD.

forget it, me thinks... I was self-employed back then, I am employed now, save the cash.

£30 a month, 20 years - its a far bit of wedge (I think they call it piece of mind, but I call it that nice old John Deere that I could have spent the cash on instead)

sorry to here about the injury. Being self employed its somthing i worry about. Turned 30 this year and i dont feel quite so invincible now, what sort of cost per month are you looking at for one of these policys. Just seems like im always paying out in this game
