ratting is the sport of kings. when i had ferrets i'd never work them on rats though. my border terrier is a keen ratter. i have often told customers they have rats in their barns/compost bins after letting her out for a walk.

Wise move. A rat is more than a match for a ferret. I'd never use my polecats for ratting either. My little Jack is a different story though, he loves a bit of ratting.

an old saw or brushcutter with a hose offa the exhaust, shove that in the rat holes, give a good blast and choke em out, that'll have the ratties runnin for the dogs and saves the fereets doin battle, let them do their work on the bunnies.

i have a dainty litttle fox terrier, she is like a little angelic cutey pie, her last victim was a hedge hog, she dragged it in by the snout, got it 2 feet up into her bed and spent 20 mins getting jabbed to bits. the hedge hog just went for a snooze i reckon, i took it out and it is now hibernating under the wood beneath the trampoline. if you have ever seen a fox terrier working mice or rats your jaw will drop, one shake and they are dead, no messing. and dont mention chickens either lol

I need a dog like that! My mate spotted some mice in my porch the other day so I got some traps, mars bars (nine for me and one for the traps) and set it up. Well the trap's been cleaned off twice now and no mouse! I'm pretty good at trapping usually but this ones very light on his feet!

It'll be the 12 bore out of the letter box soon. That'll learn 'em! :laugh1:
