Nice work Albere.

Thanks mark there will be plenty more pictures to come got a good 4 months playing with veterans, happy days.

Back to sloths question. We have been scribing just by running are chainsaws up and down the bark surface.

The technique of scoring and abrading of surface tissue can be used by scribing bark to introduce small areas of localised damage intended to encourage callus tissue later forming wound wood, eventually with adventitious shoot flushing from this tissue.

I see, thank you. What kind of site is it, looks nice  while on the subject does anyone have any ref to research on scribing and the like? Processes, species, success etc. I know Rob has an interest in this, where are you Robert!? Or is it Robin? Or Robert even?

'tis Robin :)

Not me though.

Iirc he was interested in restoration pruning, which works similarly how scribing does, leaving a mark/scar/ cut to promote growth below pruning points and in the crown.

Thanks. I was up the first tree for approximately 3hrs. Decent drop zone field side. Wind was scorching through so bakside was dropped into garden and thrown over.

Second tree took about the same. Bit smaller but lots of clutter underneath and small drop zone.
