Even down here in the south east developers are building and then unable to sell.  So where's this 'massive demand for housing'?  Oh - it couldn't be anything to do with the construction industry having waaaaay too much sway over government could it?   £££££££.........

Developers are no doubt lobbying behind the scenes for more government ‘help for buyers’.

I wonder how many of the 1.5M new homes that Labour insist we "need" we do actually need?

UK has a stable birth rate, 1:1 kind of thing, so assuming we all have homes now none... however family sizes are getting smaller generally so need some houses for these smaller family units. Scotland I believe the birth rate means a shrinking population.

However at the risk of exciting the easily excited, political policies of the last government to allow mass immigration since Brexit (the authorised ones, coming to steal our jobs) are the biggest pressure on housing we have just now (so authorised immigrants, coming to steal our jobs and our houses!)

I imagine the planning and all that was done when interest rates were low and mortgages were easy to get.

Being a developer has always been a game of musical chairs.

No, the UK does not have a stable birth rate. The birth rate, specifically the total fertility rate (TFR), has been declining in England and Wales since 2010, reaching a record low of 1.44 children per woman in 2023. This is well below the replacement level of 2.1 children per woman needed to maintain a stable population

maybe there's too many males, in ****************in' frocks, pretending they're female, too many freaks, and too many lefty wankers, mind you less increases  of those can only be a good thing.

world needs to improve the quality of  life not  quantity.

thousand upon thousand of useless individuals crammed into hotels, while veterans sleep in cardboard boxes!, wtf?

put a mare  in a field and grazes perfectly content, add a stallion and the grass still grows quicker than can graze it, then there, s a foal,  still pretty good quality of life for all, they keep breeding, food is now getting a little sparse, more mud than food, horses are starting to look thin, poor in health, now they all are suffering, adding horses of another breed or color isn't gonna improve the problem is it.

The problem is, houses in this part of East Anglia are mega expensive compared to the average wage. We bought a bungalow probably less than 20 miles from where Steve is in 2008 for just under £250k, it's now valued at ££625k.
