Hello, I'd really welcome some advice on whether to take action on the pictures attached. I'm a total amateur, but passionate lover and protector of trees and live in an AONB. What that means sadly, is there are often very wealthy landowners who will push what they can do with old trees. The pics show action taken yesterday, and in my admittedly amateur perspective they look like they have been brutally pollarded. If i'm wrong and they will recover please do tell me, but if not, I will report this to the council and get these landowners warned so at least there is hope it won't be repeated. Could you also guide me on how a tree surgeon could do this? Surely there ought to be standards? Can action be taken against tree surgeons. Again, if I'm over reacting or out of proportion please do guide me, I want to learn so I can be of greater help. Thank you so much.

They are managed pollards and done to professional standards, so yes you are overreacting.

action against the tree surgeons? Maybe a hitman but that would be a bit excessive and expensive/

They are pollards that look to be managed regularly.

The majority of the cuts are small.  Usually implying that they have only removed 1 or 2 years of regrowth.

i think you are over reacting somewhat but at least you are trying to get advice so you are informed.

Not all members of the public do so before jumping to conclusions.

Pretty standard for limes ( I think they are limes ) . Basically you get a bush on a stick . Then repeated every few years .
