I’ve been gifted quite a nice ms361 hasn’t done a lot of work from the original owner. It’s a 2004 and used it first time yesterday felling a row of large conifers.

Pulls alright with 18inch bar but have seen couple posts online about muffler mod really opens them up.
All the videos seem to be American, is there any over here that has done it and noticed a difference or just leave it stock?

Exhausts are available aftermarket on ebay very cheap, worth buying to try and not to damage the original.

When you get the standard one off, the weight will tell you if there is much inside. I don't have personal experience of MM a 361.

What I was suggesting for £10 it's worth trying one of the cheap dual port ones, if it is better then you can make the choice if you want to pay over £100 for a modified OE one. The cheap ones are ok for firewood users but if used as a production / heavy user then of course they won't last as long, I've used them on Husky  55 and 365 and they were ok.

I replaced my exhaust with a cheapo chinese one. Just because my orm was knackered. Didn't notice a difference tbh, but always loved that saw.

Best thing i did was sticking a 9pin sprocket off a 440 on with a 18" .325 bar it cut very well.

Try a Bark Box. A noticeable difference in power on my MS462.

Far as I’m aware they don’t do it for 361 as it’s a one piece muffler.

They were great saws.

You’ve got lucky there.

I prefer obsessive sharpening over porting, and more longevity from the saw.

How do you figure that mate? My 2 oldest saws are ported.

I have done a few and a "cut and shut" on the exhaust, clearing out the internal baffle assembly livens the saw up in a big way. The ones I did were also ported at the same time and the result was very noticeable.
