Actually I am starting to get converted, tried Motomix in my hedge trimmer and didn't stink of fumes at the end of the job. Less convinced the saws make me stink as the exhaust blows away more, especially up the tree.

Yes I use aspen in my hedge cutters because they get used near my face, too expensive for the saws.

I work mostly on my own, but I've been subbing 2 days a week for someone a few months now. The fumes of other people's saws, after breathing nothing but Aspen for a while... it's a shock.

100%

Another plus point of Aspen is you can get in in a pallet of 54 cans or a 20l drum or 205l drum. This means you don't have to deal with the nonsense of having to fill fuel cans up at the petrol station.

True, it'd be good to see some results of a proper independent study, I expect one has been done somewhere. The idea of the alkylate fuels is that a lot of the noxious crap like sulphur, benzene and other aromatics is removed, so I suspect it would come out on top.

Yes they smell different, but Ive never really noticed any side effects.

I use fresh petrol pump E5 in the strimmer and MS261.  The thinking is they are newer, get used a lot, and were built after the introduction of ethanol.  I start the strimmer up with aspen in January to flush things out a bit.

The larger, older saws that get used infrequently just use aspen. I can't ignore Aspen is double the price.

Back to storage, always try to store machines in the dry up off damp floors etc.

Also , strip a machine that's run on alkylate fuel from the get go and strip a similar machine that has been run on pump fuel for the same length of time . There you will see a difference .

Presume Aspen is considered to be the same as petrol under the regulations so maximum allowed for storage at home is 30 litres. Business premises is different. Of course no one one will ever know unless your garage goes up in flames and the fire brigade arrives?

How is filling up fuel cans at the service station nonsense?

Piece of piss.
