So as if one very intelligent collie wasn't enough work, about a year ago we adopted this handsome fellow. He wasn't badly treated as such but just run wild around a farm (and god knows where else!) since he was a pup.

It's been a slow process but he's coming on very well and is unrecognizable in every way from what was basically the wild dog we took on. The change in him tends to prove the adage that there aren't really bad dogs, just bad owners.

He's extremely happy in his new life and needless to say we love him to bits, how could you not!

And this is his 'brother' Percy checking out our crop of clover before mowing a few weeks ago.

Percy is elsewhere on this thread from a few years ago.

So, chipper out of action, huge tax bill arrives same day, Igor doesn’t mind, just been for a long walk, been fed and now has his favourite chew.

Oh to be a dog!

This is the Malinois that my mate wants me to train up. I've found a big difference in the temperament of the German Shepherds I'm used to and the Belgian Shepherd which I'm just coming to know. The Belgian are very single minded, they seem to be excellent at one job and that's it. Whereas the Germans are good all rounders. We've tried him on a baiting sleeve, he's sh1t hot, he was semi trained by his French breeder, now he needs a bit of discipline. Tried him on gunshots, not a problem, didn't even blink when a 16 bore was discharged.

See a lot of them round here, lovely looking dogs.

Yes, they are Mick. Bit too clingy for me, they have to be in contact with you all the time. I nearly had a cross German/ Belgian from my mate but he warned me that it could be dodgy for my wife as the dog was so jealous that she wouldn't let the missus get between me and her. The big German he has is wonderful with kids, other dogs, he's disciplined to Hell. Grabbed a gypsy bloke by the arm when he tried to get into his business yard, now they stay in their vans and shout out before they get out of the wagons. Waiting to see what the Belgian can do to the Travelling Community next time they call.

I have a Dutch mate out here who had a plant nursery/landscape business.

After a few break ins he fenced the place and got two trained GS, a brother and sister. They weren’t pets, in a compound all day and roaming the premises at liberty all night.

Every six months or so he would engage the trainer to refresh the dogs training.

When the trainer staged an “over the fence” exercise the male (not as smart) would  race to the fence all guns blazing.

The female however would hide in the plants waiting and wanting the intruder to get within range so she could properly hand out justice.

My mate is James of Depannage365,  always on FB work wise. He has a scrap yard for all the knackered cars he recovers. The Belgian and the German have been joined by a 4 year old Belgian bitch he got from the Malinois refuse down near Angouleme.  They contacted him to see if he could take her. Poor sod's been knocked about and is very fragile, trusts no one and consequently cannot herself be trusted. Time will tell how she turns out. There really are some horrible bastards out there.
