Bad communication,i always confirm that I grind stump 100mm below ground level root crown left in the ground only grass can be planted if they want complete removal, that a landscaper job 😞 never had problem , but client is always right so go back and negotiate, scandals will not resolve anything 🤝

I always describe a stump as like a spiders body - I go down a foot deep and out to the first knuckles and won’t normally chase any roots out.

Unless specifically asked for and they’re shallow, ie. Cherry, horse chestnut etc and then it’s more £.

deepest I’ve been was 3ft and about 8ft across - there are pics in the stumpgrinding thread a few years ago.

Meet this fella on site, take your grinder with you and if necessary go deeper or just use it to show him that it’s just the odd bit of root left.

Keep asking him to send me pictures of his issue, as he says the stumps still there, but he sends no photos, just threats that if we take it further, he'll counter claim, for his lawyers, and time lost and how his gardener lost a days work because she could not plant there.

 

Anyone else ever had to deal with non payers?

 

I can see the stump you removed.  Are you sure they are not talking about the other stump as well that you didn't remove, shown closer to the path in your photo?

Nope defo not talking about the small stump at the back. As all corraspondence has been going on about that stump, and he's only mentioned that one stump!

 

Ive asked him to send me the photos of his concerns as he said he has them for proof, but yet to recieve them. 

 

 I've been back to the site, and its not been touched since I was last there, so dont know how his gardener could say she couldn't plant. Had a dig about, stump gone. 

 

He's even now gone as far as reporting us to Checkatrade as a "Rogue Trader" 🤔

Off to the small claim's it will be!
