There’s a difference between carrying some  form of ID on a voluntary basis if it doesn’t bother you and a compulsory digital identification system. Quoting your  NI number and DOB should be all that’s ever required. IMO they are using some BS about windrush and illegals to justify it, Blair always had a hard on for it.

I havent looked into it but what is the difference between having to quote ni and dob compared to a digital id? Shirly both identify who you are?

I always carry my driving license so if someone needs to identify who I am, as long as that person is the police or the checkout girl in tescos when im buying a bottle of beer (in my dreams) then I dont have an issue with it.

Why on earth would you say that quoting your NI number and DOB should be protocol

I never said it should be protocol I said it’s all that should ever be required Mark, don’t twist people’s words. Regardless of you spouting  some crap i happen to agree that there’s no place for it at all. NI number and date of birth is used on how many official documents with how many government departments ??

You're just angry because you were called out for trolling on the POTUS thread.

Trolling 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂I don’t  give a shit about that you daft bugger, the word troll carries the same weight as the racist or  far right BS labels thrown about by the left ie absolutely zero. I gave my reasons and stand by them, the guys a total blagger who can’t or won’t answer questions, yours Dempseys or anyone else’s opinion is just that an opinion, he’s gone quiet but when he pops up I might just ask him again eh 👍truth is if his politics didn’t align you’d be the first to shout ie if it were me refusing to answer or acknowledge a question . There’s nothing said on here that generates real anger in me Mark, it’s an internet forum nothing more. Mark are you maybe a bit sore because your beloved Labour are making a rip roaring arse of things, plus you know fine well your all time super successful favourite leader Blair was right up for the digital id  😂

The same people who had no problem with Covid passports lockdowns and compulsory vaccinations will be the same people who are happy with compulsory digital id, if both NI/DOB and Digital identity you then why do  you need  the latter . My point is we already have more than enough forms of id without some all encapsulating digital set up. Too much imo and for total BS reasons.

Ill ignore the first sentence as that is just an angry rant.

So whats the difference from giving your ni/dob to having a digital ID card? You are still just identifying yourself. The first means that you have to remember it the second means its just on a card carried in your wallet.

Does a digital ID restrict you in some way?

The classic “ angry rant “ accusation, no in this case it’s simple facts I’m afraid.

You yourself are proving it right here.
It’s the first step down a very slippery slope. I’m no conspiracy theorist despite what you have stated previously but for me there are some total control freaks in powerful political positions for whom the idea is very attractive. Rather predictably it’s the left wing party that’s pushing it again. Seems you have a very short memory in regards the restrictions and utter BS we were forced to endure at the hands of over zealous politicians.

I've never understood this ID card phobia. I don't know what's the big deal with having one more number associated with your name, (other than it'd probably be unmemorable). People have been watching too much of The Prisoner. Classic TV, but shouldn't be taken to heart.

If I was so inclined I'd be far more concerned about the masses of data that Big Tech and Social Media companies have on everyone. They know far more about people than any government could ever hope to. Imagine the stink that would have arisen if it was proposed thirty years ago that everyone should walk around with a little tracking device in their pocket. Something that allowed huge foreign companies and an unknown number of shadowy partners to harvest our data on everything 24/7. They know where we go, who we meet, what we buy, what we watch, the whole caboodle. Hell, they probably know when and for how long we take a dump!

I am concerned about this though. Labour are busy letting this lot loose to feast on our NHS. They sure don't have our best interests at heart.

The American firm’s huge NHS contract raises equally big questions about government and tech.

Never realised I had to submit a holiday request to this forum, if JohnsonD can update my holiday tracker for me, pop it down to "Community Engagement" if you could?

I am surprised a you though. A national ID card which can be available for all as a form of ID - under 15s without NI, and all those without a passport - is one of the tools that can be used to prove entitlement to services (doctors are a good example). I would have thought you'd be all over that idea to reduce the number of migrants accessing services that they are not entitled to, save the UK a few quid.

Government websites already have a single log in for access don't they so why not just extend that idea a little further to allow easier access to real life services?

You all ready carry your phone with you 24 hours a day, have an option to pop the ID details on an app, and access will be the same as paying for your Scotmid shop.

Or is this just another case of whatever Labour do = bad.

Pop  back to a certain thread 42 🤷‍♂️you failed miserably my to provide proof of your accusations. As I said it’s the same pro types for that farce that see no problem with compulsory digital ID.
