So yeah. That’s a private organisation that wants my business. Now imagine how well the state will do it.

It can be done though, the people build the banks systems are generally contractors will build anything. On a security side of things big databases can be made.

Yes don't start on security checks I am sure we've all got tales from banks, my favourite was

"So you want me to remember a password from 20 years ago"

"what is your security answer then" (something like pets name)

"What is the security question I answered 20 years ago, give me a clue"

"We can't tell you that sir, good luck!"

And here in is the problem, zero ability for those in "power" to listen to people shouting and saying no, just double down.

But, but we can make it better, your lives better, because widgets, smoke, mirrors, dangle keys like your toddlers.

I smell Poll tax all over again or china depending on if you have stuck to the approved mandate's.

Private entity hires a contractor. Do this job please. Done. Move on.

State emanation hires a contractor. Do this job please. New policy/party/apparatchik, change this bit. Law’s changed, change this bit. Another government department is using this system, make ours integrate. So and so doesn’t work here any more, can you show me what you’ve built so far. We’re postponing it for now, set it up to migrate forward at a future date. We’re back on, but bring it back with this change. Etc etc etc etc etc etc

Ends up a total mess. You can have competent contractors but they end up hamstrung by impossible clients.

Leave aside your Covid PTSD for a while if you can, and explain what it is about ID cards that you are so afraid of. You've not really said anything of any substance, just alluded to more conspiracy theories, something vague about control. What exactly do you think would be the worst outcome? I don't see the problem. If most of the rest of the civilised world have ID cards of one form or another, why can't we? I'm indifferent btw, (I don't think we need them, but not bothered if others think we do), I'm just bemused at the rabid resistance towards them in this quarter.

I thought you'd be far more concerned about something that your best mate Kier Starmer did a while back, during that trade deal with the US. Part of the deal was giving Palentir even great access to our NHS data, systems and finances. Cheers Kier. That's something you could actually worry about. Have a look at the long list of things that they've got their sticky little fingers into.

The first lie is the hardest after that it’s just much easier 42, nothing changes I see, still,  posting lies and crap up, it’s not ptsd 42 it’s the fact you and others were called out to provide proof of what you were claiming about another member in posts and never did provide any.
The rabid behaviour is where by the way ??
I see your blagger teammate as the biggest most rabid pro ID  !!
As for current disastrous Labour government , I post plenty about the clowns you voted for 42.

Eh?

FFS, this makes W1A look like an even worse parody.

Don't start bleating when they're asking you for id when buying your lunch, tutting at you and saying you can't have that packet of crisps sir/madam as you've not had this week's jab or liked starmers last Facebook post.
