😂 That supposed to be breaking news, HBOS or RBOS

I do apologise for my mid week lethargy, but were you making a point or just giggling to yourself there?

Halifax and Band of Scotland are the same banking group, JohnsonD starts giggling like a school girl. I'm confused.

She had jobs in banking, are you trying to say all those who work in the square mile lack business experience if it wasn't them who started the firms?

Pretty sure that’s factual

It might be factual, but then the only reason trump is in business is because he inherited money. And he needs all that generational wealth to stay in business as he’s failed miserably at it.

As for the farmers strikes, it’s a bunch of millionaires in wellies complaining about taxes. Nothing unusual but it’s certainly brazen. Pretty entitled but the rich often are. If it’s that crap being a farmer then they should probably sell their £3m asset and be happy instead…?

Has he actually failed miserably at it, or is it just something the left (or anyone who doesn't like him) jump on?

Yes he inherited a crap ton of money, but what about his successful businesses? People don't like to talk about those do they, just the ones that have gone bankrupt. He's a businessman with a crap load of money, I would expect him to have started all manner of ventures in the past, and it stands to reason not all of them will pan out so of course there will be the odd bankrupcy along the way.

So are you just parroting what you hear, or have you seen actual figures? Not intending to be faceitious, I genuinely am curious, and I dont really care enough to look it up myself.

There was an article a while ago... and granted most press is one sided and to be taken with a bucket of salt... but if he'd stuck his inheritance in shares his current declared wealth (assets take away debts) would be less. However... this is Trump you are talking about and his wealth varies depends on who he is talking to - bank loans, revenue, court cases...

On that score, failed that by doing nothing he'd be richer, but successful that he employs a lot of people in viable businesses.

Trump is good at business- it doesnt matter if he went bust or inherited.

But I reckon Reeves is clever too - they just see the world differently. Trumps stake in Truth Social is worth Billions, but that doesnt mean he would make better decisions for the benefit of low paid workers. Reeves is a liar, but I like her.

Nationalise the farms and make immigrants work them, or under the mulcher

Maybe start with that one on your next job!.

Me thinks you'll be on the dole double quick.

As maybe that home of yours is better looked after by the council ?.

Trust in government is at an all time low at a time when the size of the 'government' is at an all time high.

Government spending is now over 50% of GDP (when you account for PFI), a lot of which is to the benefit of retirees (health, elderly care, pensions) paid for by fewer workers and a dire education system for the very young.  We have more layers of politicians (MEPs, MSPs, MPs, mayors, regional assemblies), more and more public servants with their gold plated pensions.

Personally I think we need a fundamental rethink about the size of government, its purpose and what it can achieve.
