Power is what gives the speed, I suspect you mean pressure, which is what provides the tipping force.

I have no idea what sort of pressure the old unit produced.

It tipped 2 tonnes plus without question though (on private land, obvs).

Some new tippers I’ve worked with seem very weak.

If it's 600 including the vat, fitting and oil, it's probably not worth thinking about.

It’s a kick in the nuts, especially if it turns out a cheapo Flowfit kit will do the same job.

So you're probably in for about 850 ex vat.

 

Personally I'd be under there like a whippet scribbling part numbers for a little Google session.

You can dick around finding cheaper units and then someone to fit them.

Or you can get it back out earning money asap for the price of a days work.

Scrapyards are probably full of tipper hydraulic motors on rotten bodies. I gave away a full kit of ram hoses pump etc, it was working fine

Ouch. I would seriously consider a new tipping kit at that money. Or even looking elsewhere for a motor.

Then again there's downtime to consider, just sounds expensive to me.

 

Mick has a point, you'll forget the cost in a few weeks either way and its back earning. The path of least resistance is rarely the cheapest way.

 

I'd think the scrappies would pull out the motors for the copper. Personally I gave up buying secondhand parts when I sold the mog!

I’ve dealt with VFS several times and they’ve been spot on, even when there’s been nothing in it for them.

These local lads are great to deal with and all my farming mates use them.

 

I think if a new kit was easier/better/quicker they would have steered me there.

 

As Mick said, I want to get it earning asap.

Luckily I have a couple of small jobs where handballing/shovelling will only add a few minutes, and a 3-dayer next week with loader and chipper where everything is staying on site.

 

Hopefully done and dusted by next Friday afternoon (motor should be with me next Monday).
