Unknown causes easy to narrow down. Likely carb related. Same could happen to any saw if you leave stale fuel on it ?

My slightly less cheap McCulloch, also from Lidl, has a carb issue preventing the primer from sucking fuel through.. sucking air from the carb. It doesnt have enough power to really be worth the time reassembling. I will eventually.

Yea but I thought with these B+Q/Home base stuff you just take it back just before the warranty  date and they give you another one if its working or not ?

Abuse of statutory consumer rights aside, all this disposable shit does is waste your money and condemn some black kid off an Oxfam advert to wade around a nickel mine for another season.

This saw is still running very well. Had very good compression when I checked, always starts easily

Last week we didnt have a chipper and a load of connifer had to be rashed up small the fit the van,

Yesterday a fair amount of use chopping this stump. Slived the rounds with the g372 and noodled into manageable lumps with this.

 £20 more than my one.

Chain adjuster is shite. The bevel gear of the side adjuster is only held by the thin wear plate.IMG_20250625_143550.thumb.jpg.771347127cb82aaaf0c096581d0ad735.jpg

I may repair it myself. However I think its the same or shares parts with every other generic chinese ground saw, so should be easy to find another.

It’s not all about money.

Part of the pleasure of this job is using quality equipment made by engineers with the pro in mind.

I love using my saws, chippers, loaders whatever, because I can feel the effort that’s been made by these guys to make these things work well.

I couldn’t put a pile of junk like that on my truck.

One day you’ll understand.

What Mick said. I’ve just had the most boring, peaceful and happy day of tree work you can imagine. I did everything right with great kit and looked really professional and handsome all day.

Les’s laughing reaction speaks volumes. I bet his chisels have overmoulded rubbed handles and he buys new ones when they’re blunt.
