Current range of tracked chippers

Surely anything over 8" is getting into tractor territory as it'd probably need 100Hp.

 

An 8" Forst is what pushing 50HP

It’s an estate that we’re working for with a private 18 hole golf course. They don’t want anything left or stacked in the woods as they get them flailed off every autumn/winter to let the blue bells come

I just picked a brand at random, I've no skin in the game regarding chippers.

 

Just an old TP tractor mounted, a lifesaver in my woodland. In my mind a 3 point mounted version for use deep in the woodland avoids have one more engine to maintain and fuel, tracks to replace etc.

 

Plus I have somewhere to hide when it's break time or more likely downpour time, about 50/50.

Understood. 
Forst chip great, but had/have serious reliability issues.

I’ll be honest have got a Forst 6” petrol road tow and so far the machines been faultless. Considerably better than the petrol GM I had before it which spent more time being fixed than working. Have been very happy with Forst but the biggest downside is they have a much lower resale value as they’ve somewhat flooded the market. 
I’d be open to getting another GM but would need to get over the damage done with my previous ARB150.

I don’t understand your point ? Are you saying that every 8” machine out there that people have been using for years are underpowered or we should all drive tractors 50 miles to a site ?

As you being arsey, I said "Anything over 8".

 

For the simple fact a 10" chipper with just an engine is going to weigh what 2ton plus the 7.5 ton hgv to drag it's arse around ?.

 

Plus tracks etc, Vs a 10" PTO at what less than a ton with a nice comfy tractor adding say another 4.

Running a tracked Jensen a340t that is a legal 3.5t with trailer. Even Bandit do a legal tow 12” tracked machine now.
