Kubota cylinder head

I have an En Tec wood chipper I think En Tec became Timberwolf

My chipper has a Diesel Kubota engine V1200Nd stamped on the engine and a sticker on the cylinder head cover V1205.

The Engine recently overheated due to a clogged radiator, I have replaced the radiator and a new fan but am sure the head gasket is blown as getting air bubbles in the coolant, I want to take the head off at the weekend but if the head is cracked I cant find any replacement heads available in this country.

Any advice on changing the head gasket or if head is cracked any where to get a new or refurbished cylinder head

Will it be ok to reuse the cylinder head bolts

Thanks

I'd get the head off and see, that age should be old school cast iron head I would have thought - not that likely to distort on overheat. In the old days we'd just clean up, new head gasket, bolt it back on and see how it goes. Unless it proper overheated and melted the pistons of course....

Very rarely a Kubota engine will blow the head gasket.9 of 10 times they'll crack the head.

On the rocker cover you should have a decal with the engine model and serial number. Give this to a Kubota engine dealer and see if they can supply.

Generally, if the rad has blocked and the engine has overheated properly you will of cracked the head. We have done loads over the years. Usual symptoms are compression gasses in the coolant, very hard to start cold and white smoke on crank.

Whizz the head off, you can usually see the cracks across the combustion chamber. You can re use the head bolts. Always good practice to get some cardboard and lay your components out in the cardboard exactly how they came off.

You could refit a 1305 or 1505 if required. But most used engines are knackered. Compression wise, serviceable limit from Kubota is 327 PSI. Ideally you want more towards 400 PSI.

Thanks for reply's

I got the head off, cant see any cracks but it looks to me as if the gasket on the right hand cylinder is damaged. Would you agree this would cause air bubbles in the coolant?

When I say the engine overheated it did cut out as its got an overheat cut out, coolant was coming out the over flow and on checking the radiator I found most of the fins were closed up,

I replaced the radiator and the fan as it had a broken fin ( broken fin may have damaged the radiator} it was only then I discovered the air bubbles in the coolant as I was checking coolant while engine was running.
